Irish's Eyes Are Smiling... and So Is Alfredo

Just a quick post to say I've received another all-clear from Dr. Irish at Princess Margaret Hospital. Today was the third of my bi-monthly post-op check-ups. In his words, everything looks "perfect."
And if that wasn't reason enough to smile, check out this photo:

A rare giant smile from the camera-shy kid. Last Wednesday (July 4) Alfredo and I enjoyed a day at Canada's Wonderland and a barbecue dinner courtesy of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto and the Toronto Police Association. Alfredo had never been on a roller coaster before, so for his maiden voyage, I took him on the "gentlest" coaster in the park: the Ghoster Coaster. As you can see, he loved it. Wish I could say the same for that poor kid in front of us...

We graduated up to such supercoasters as the Vortex (fast!) and even the Bat (upside down! backwards!). Alfredo loved 'em all and would have ridden every ride in the park if not for the limitations of his Big Brother's stomach. Fortunately, he let me intersperse gentler activities (mini-golf, waterfall divers) between things that spin. Thank goodness, because the threat of rain kept the crowds away and the line-ups were very short. I'd never before realized the benefit of an hour-long line for a coaster: it offers you time to recover from the last ride!
